Our Love Story
Chemistry
For just over a decade, our friendship blossomed year by year, growing into a magnetic bond driven steadily forward by undeniable chemistry.
Connection
Four years ago, without distance and country lines separating us, the thinly veiled twilight of platonic love fell away as romance dawned; as quick and gentle as a night out becomes a sunrise together.
Commitment
On the 7th of September 2025, laying on a blanket we gazed up at the cosmos watching the Blood Moon eclipse. Shanna remarked “this moment couldn’t be more perfect”, Gus replied “the only thing that could make it better is if you married me” as he nervously fumbled a box out of his pocket.

Just a short walk from the Casas, you’ll find the main resort area with a swimming pool, bar, and restaurant (we can happily attest that their food is delicious!).
From the deck, steps lead directly down to soft sandy beaches and the stunning turquoise waters of Vilankulos.

What You'll Need to Know
Health Advice
Archipelago Resort recommends that visitors take malaria prophylactics before entering Mozambique. Please consult your doctor. Take precautionary measures to prevent contact with mosquitoes: sleeping under a bed net, spray your accommodation with insecticide, use of mosquito repelling lotions or sticks. Wear long sleeved clothing, trousers and socks when outside at night.
There are private clinics, hospitals and pharmacies in most large towns, but carry a basic fist aid kit. Doctors expect cash payment, so ensure your medical insurance covers your trip to Mozambique.
Food & Water precautions
The water at Archipelago Resort is safe to drink. We advise that you do not drink tap water away from the resort unless it has been boiled, filtered, or chemically disinfected.
Do not drink un-bottled beverages or drinks with ice when away from the resort. Thoroughly wash fruit and vegetables which you purchase from vendors.
Dietary Requirements
If you have any dietary requirements or restrictions, please let us know in advance so we can ensure your needs are thoughtfully accommodated.
Quick Answers
What date should I RSVP by?
We kindly ask that you RSVP by 31st of May, 2026. We completely understand that a destination wedding may not fit into everyone’s calendar, and if you’re unable to join us, please know there are absolutely no hard feelings. We’ll be thinking of you and raising a glass in your honour on the day!
Can I bring my children?
Our wedding celebrations will be adult-only, with the exception of children in our immediate family. We’d love for your little ones to enjoy the trip, but kindly arrange alternative care during the pre-wedding event and the wedding day itself.
Where will the ceremony and reception take place?
Both our ceremony and reception will be held at Archipelago Resort in Vilanculos. We’re delighted to share that discounted accommodation is available for all our wedding guests at the resort which has been reserved for our private use from the 19th to 29th of September 2026.
Is there a dress code for the wedding?
Seaside colours, breathable fabrics, and beach-friendly footwear are ideal.
Is there a gift registry?
We can’t wait to celebrate with you, and that’s the best gift we could ask for. If you’d still like to give something, we’d be thrilled with a contribution to our honeymoon fund, helping us start married life with unforgettable memories.
How do I get there?
Regular flights via Jo’burg with Airlink are available. Airport transfers are USD20.00 per trip (1-6 pax) and these can be booked through reception. Car hire is available at the airport.
You can drive from Harare via the Forbes border post. It is approximately 830km and takes around 12 hours
What is the climate like?
Expect pleasantly warm temperatures ranging from 20-29’C, windy mornings and evenings and ocean temperatures in the mid 20’s.
What to pack?
- Light cotton trousers, shorts or dresses and a hat or cap
- Long sleeved shirts or blouses to protect you from the sun, particularly during boat cruises
- A light fleece or windbreaker for cool mornings and evenings
- Swimwear, snorkels, fins and masks. These are also available for hire form the on site dive centre
- Sunglasses, a high factor sunscreen and after-sun
- Comfortable walking shoes and sandals to protect your feet from coral and hot sand.
Do I need a VISA?
Citizens from SADC countries do not need a visa to visit Mozambique as long as they are visiting for 30 days or less.
All other passport holders require a visa, which can be obtained from a Mozambican embassy prior to departure or at various borders and airports in Mozambique. In order to obtain a visitor visa you may be asked to show your accommodation booking.
